Pastures new

The art studios I have been working in for the past 6 years are about to be demolished in September-the developers went for the studios and art galleries first as a phase one demolition, possibly because we publicly protested about losing our workshops on the industrial estate.
This was a thriving area of artists and creative small businesses from  boat builders to prop makers, laser cutters to music studios. The studios we inhabited were an old foundry building that was over 100 years old, still in sound condition and of historical interest as it was from the Phoenix foundry under John Every that the railings, lamp posts and sea front furniture for Brighton, Hastings and Eastbourne were cast. Here are some  photographs of the building as we knew it and in its hey-day.
